Hello, it’s 2024 already? What the heck happened to 2023?
But also, HAPPY THIRD BIRTHDAY TO THE BUTTERFLIES & ALIENS LIBRARY!
Back on December 19, 2021, we celebrated a pretty significant anniversary… five years since our Butterfly-in-Chief survived a stroke. Which got us thinking about how much had changed in those five years… and the last two… and this last year, the first year of the Butterflies & Aliens Library of Literary Eccentricities & Rarities…
A year ago today, we launched the Butterflies & Aliens Library of Literary Eccentricities and Rarities… “to celebrate our shared delight and curiosity in books, about books, over books”… so not only are we celebrating a happy new year, but also the first birthday of our little pandemic project that could.
With the release of Denis Villeneuve’s new version of Frank Herbert’s Dune brought to the big screen, it seemed a terrible oversight to not have a post here at the Butterflies & Aliens Library about the original book itself, in many ways a key piece of our origin story…
Our logo was designed by one of our founders under the umbrella of one of his other projects, Black Riders. He talks a bit more about it over on their website…
Why Butterflies and Aliens? Well, the short answer is because www.catchingbutterfliesandsharkattackvictims.com was too long…
About Us
So like most things here at the Butterflies & Aliens Library, our About Us page isn’t exactly the usual about us page. Instead, this is a collection of “origin stories” that we’ve added to The Stacks, including our very first post ever. If there’s anything else you’d like to know about us, feel free to drop us a line!
And here we are, January 1, 2025, and celebrating the fourth birthday of the Butterflies & Aliens Library of Literary Eccentricities & Rarities!
So… crazy year has followed crazy year — even less posting in 2024 than in 2023! — but we are still here, and what began as our little digital refuge back in 2021 will continue to be just that, a place we can escape to once in a while to be unabashedly nerdy and bookish, and we hope you can too…
